ISTA agrees to resume contract negotiations with Professional Staff.arrow leftGo Back

The Indiana State Teachers Association (ISTA) has agreed to resume contract negotiations with the Professional Staff Organization (PSO).

ISTA had previously indicated that it would stand on a “final offer,” and that no further movement would be considered. The two organizations have been preparing to employ a mediator in an attempt to overcome the roadblock. However, ISTA’s position has shifted in recent days, and the parties will once again begin exchanging proposals.

“I think this is good news for anyone who relies on the service of ISTA’s professional staff,” said PSO President, Rick Scalf.

“With only a few weeks remaining before our contract with ISTA expires, we should all be doing our part to reach a settlement. PSO has provided a series of responsible, values-driven proposals, and we intend to continue doing so. We appreciate everyone who expressed their concerns when negotiations stalled, and we welcome ISTA back the table.”

  • Last week, PSO announced that negotiations had come to a stand-still, when ISTA informed the union that it had issued a “final offer,” and would not entertain any further movement.
